May Faire 2005

The traditional May Pole dance is an important part of the spring

celebration in many Waldorf Schools.

Before the start of the dance, the May Pole stands against the spring sky.

Families begin the dance, each parent and child holding a brightly

colored ribbon.  A traditional song is sung as the dancers weave

their ribbon onto the pole.

The children have fun singing and dancing.

As the dance progresses, the ribbons wrap around the pole.

Here the dance is nearly half done.

As the dance finishes, the circle in which the dancers walk gets

smaller and smaller.

  The finished May Pole!
